4. Patricia Highsmith, Ripley Underwater

I've lost track where this book falls in the Ripley series but I think that it falls immediately after Ripley's Game.  In this story two inquisitive Americans move into Ripley's suburban village and start making uncomfortably invasive inquiries about Ripley's life.  It later becomes clear that the Americans are on a mission to out Ripley.  I have to say that the suspense is a little more flat in this one and the ending is a little weaker.  Nevertheless it is an enjoyable book.
