Phew! If you are looking for a blow by blow account in less than daily increments of the end of World War II, then this is a good book. If not then it is boring. I was not looking for such an account.

What I found quite surprising is the number of peace overtures that Japan made towards the end of the war that were ignored by Truman and his cabinet who seemed bent on dropping the A-bombs.
